  • Same names, same score, every time: the score comes from a fixed code of the two names, not a random number, so refreshing won’t change it.

Guide

What the love calculator is

A love calculator is a name game. You type two names and get a score out of 100, a vibe and a date idea. It is the kind of thing friends play at lunch break, in the college canteen or on a long bus ride, and laugh about. No score can measure how two people feel about each other, and this free tool doesn’t pretend to. What it does promise is fairness: the same two names always give the same score.

How the score is made

  1. Clean the names. Both are made lower case; numbers, dots and symbols are dropped, extra spaces removed. Letters from any script count, so Tamil, Hindi and English names all work.
  2. Sort them. The two names are put in alphabetical order, so “Priya + Arun” and “Arun + Priya” are the same pair.
  3. Make a name code. The pair runs through a standard text hash called FNV-1a (Fowler, Noll and Vo, 1991): a fixed recipe that turns any text into a large number. A tiny change in spelling gives a completely different number.
  4. Score it. The code divided by 100 leaves a remainder from 0 to 99; add 1 and you have the score from 1 to 100.
  5. The love mix. Laughs, trust and adventure come from the same code with a word added, so they are fixed too.

Why other sites give a different number

Many love calculators pick a random number each time, so refreshing the page changes your score. Others count letters, vowels or the letters of “LOVES”. None of these is more “right”: they are all games. We chose a fixed code so the game is fair and you can share the result without it changing in your friend’s hands.

Birthdays and the star match

Turn on Birthdays and the tool finds both Western sun signs from the usual dates and reads them by element, the way star-sign columns do: two signs of the same element flow easily, fire with air and earth with water feed each other, and the rest balance each other out. It is part of the game, not astrology advice; for a proper look at your signs, use the zodiac sign tool.

A crush list in Chennai

Kavya, a second-year student at a college in Chennai, had three names in her notebook and a canteen full of opinions. She turned on Crush list, typed the three names (and one nickname), and the tool ranked them. Her friends argued over the order for a whole lunch break, which was the point. Nobody’s name left her phone: the list stays on the page and is not put into the share link.

Playing kindly

  • It’s a game. A low score is not a verdict, and a high one is not a promise.
  • Ask before you share a result with someone else’s name in it.
  • Don’t tease anyone about a score, especially someone who didn’t choose to play.
  • Real love is in how you treat each other: listening, keeping promises, laughing together.

Common mistakes

  • Expecting a new score on refresh. It is fixed on purpose; change the spelling or add a surname to play again.
  • Typing numbers or initials. Only letters count, and a single initial makes a dull game.
  • Taking it seriously. If a number on a website worries you, close the tab and call the person instead.

Questions

Is the love calculator real?

No. It is a name game: the score comes from a fixed code of the two names, not from anything about the people. Play it for fun and keep real decisions for real conversations.

Why does my score stay the same?

Because the score comes from a fixed code of the two names. Same names give the same score every time, on any phone, so a shared result can’t change. Other sites often use random numbers.

Can I calculate love by name and date of birth?

Yes. Turn on Birthdays and the tool adds a playful star match from your two sun signs. The love score itself still comes from the names.

Does the order of the names matter?

No. The names are sorted before the score is made, so “Priya + Arun” and “Arun + Priya” always give the same result.

Are the names saved?

No. Everything is worked out in your browser. Names are never saved or sent anywhere, and they are left out of the share link.

Can I use Tamil or Hindi names?

Yes. Letters from any script count. The same name written in two scripts gives two different scores, because the code reads the letters.
